France street is a great example of contemporary apartment construction. With open outdoor spaces carefully considered and integrated naturally into the design, this is an illustration of city-living done well. The modern building frames a large podium garden allowing for plentiful green views and easy access to outdoor recreation.
The site had complex and technical soil requirements based on podium weight loadings. Working alongside the project team to share knowledge and test critical variables (including product weights, drainage, soil nutrients, particle structure and plant palette), we created 3 light weight site-specific solutions for lawns, tree pits and garden beds.

Over 100 tonne bags of product were blended and craned into the site to ensure product deliverables were met in a tight time-frame. The result? The greenspaces surrounding the 107 apartments are now flourishing, creating an inviting garden and lawn area.
No longer a luxury add-on, creating greenspaces in residential city areas are increasingly becoming the heart of urban projects. These spaces are beneficial from a community perspective and also help make our cities cleaner and greener. This water-sensitive urban design creates impermeable surfaces and slows storm-water, to support non-polluting evaporation into the atmosphere.
